This past June we found ourselves once again jamming all that we own into a moving truck. It was an anticipated move, and one that brings us closer to the goal of Adam finishing his studies at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, WI. But it was nevertheless a move, which is never an easy task, especially with young children.
It can certainly be a daunting task to relocate. We once again said goodbye to our friends and church family, something that doesn’t get any easier the 4th or 5th time around. As we prepared our children for our arrival in Wisconsin, we reminded them (and ourselves) that it’s an opportunity to make new friends rather than lose old ones. God has blessed us with such an amazing support system, one that stretches across many states. What a comfort to know that our brothers and sisters in Christ hold us up in prayer as we continue on this journey.
Last summer I wrote a new tune for “May God the Father of Our Lord” (Christian Worship #597). I’ve found this tune running through my head frequently these past few months, and when passing by our piano I stop and sing it through. The words remind me of how our unchanging God strengthens and preserves us, regardless of how many times we’ve filled out that “change of address” card at the post office.
