We Thank You, Dearest Father

"We Thank You, Dearest Father," is a hymn of thanksgiving for Christian education, appropriate for any Christian elementary school, high school, or Sunday school. This hymn would be a fitting selection for closing services and graduation services.
May the love of Christ continually compel us--in our homes, churches, and schools--to come to him, to follow his Word, and then to go into the world with that truth, that every child in the world may hear the shining promise: "Salvation has been won."
1. We thank you, dearest Father, for this, your Word of Truth.
It lights the path before us; it guides us through our youth.
It teaches us to know you, your Spirit and your Son.
It shouts the shining promise: Salvation has been won!
2. We thank you, dearest Father, for faithful parents who
Impress upon their children that truth must come from you,
Who plan and work and pray that their children might receive
A Christian education to fill their deepest need.
3. We thank you, dearest Father for calling workers here
Who humbly teach their children to hold the Savior dear.
And if you, Lord, should call them to serve another place,
We pray that you would bless them with days and years of grace.
4. We thank you, dearest Father, for letting children come
To schools where every teaching is centered on your Son.
The love of Christ compels us: come, follow, go and serve
That every child may learn of the truth found in your Word.
